You can still burn out doing what you love. I do not think we say that enough. If you have been watching my stories, you know what season I am in. On the road, back to back, a lot of yeses already on the calendar. And I chose all of it. That is what makes it tricky, because when something is meaningful it is easy to override the signals a lot longer than you should. As I share in today’s new podcast episode, this used to be the exact setup that ended in burnout for me. Most of us do not find out where our boundaries are until we have already crossed them. What is different now is not that I go slower. Sometimes I do not. It is that I can feel it while it is happening. So here is what I am actually doing in a season like this one: 1️⃣ I check my speed. Not my schedule, my speed. If my system were a car, what is the number right now. Some mornings it is 80. Naming it is most of the work. 2️⃣ I look for one mile per hour. Not a day off, not a reset. One notch. My shoulders come down half an inch in the car on the way there. My jaw unclenches while I wait to go on. 3️⃣ I feel my back. Urgency lives in the front of the body, leaning forward into what is next. I let the chair or the wall hold me for one breath before I walk out there. 4️⃣ I let things finish. After a talk I allow myself some quiet time to decompress. I don’t reach for my phone or a distraction. It tells my body the thing is actually over. None of that requires a lighter calendar. It just requires being in there while it happens. If you are in a full season too, what is your body already telling you? And if you have been in the audience the last couple of weeks, it’s always an honor sharing space with you, and hearing your stories. Full conversation is in this week's episode. #burnout #nervoussystemhealing
