@loriforever52: Has anyone else run into this with their estrogen patch? My pharmacy just told me I’ll now be paying an additional monthly fee. I need to know if other women are hearing the same thing. #EstrogenPatchShortage #Menopause #WomenOver50 #HormoneReplacementTherapy #EstrogenPatch
My telehealth hormone dr said my next 2 deliveries (6 months) will be the price they are now but after that bc of the supply issues the price will be going up. They don’t take insurance so I pay $224 out of pocket for estrogen patch every 3 months. Plus my progesterone pills it comes out to about 325 with the tax. I’ve never had an issue not receiving my HRT but this sucks.

I think that is what is causing part of the shortage problem... not profitable enough.

As a medical biller/coder, that sounds like balance billing which is probably a violation of their contract with your insurance. I would definitely call your insurance and ask them what your out of pocket cost is suppose to be. You can all contact the pharmacy board in your state to see if they can help.

Can they legally do that? I work in medical billing and we can only charge a patient what their insurance says so why would a pharmacy be different? I’d call your insurance and ask.
