Art is designed to make you feel something. Much of today’s “avant garde” fashion is just consumerism wrapped in foolishness, designed to spark conversation and scarcity- not to promote the conversation and introspection from observing it.

I could see this working on a top hat with some kind of lace instead of plain gauze. a little bit of fire, a few playing cards in the band instead of a feather. Maybe a really big button fastening the hatband.

I think if it’s meant to be art, maybe it’s not meant to be worn if it looks fragile. Maybe some art is meant to be displayed instead of sold to be worn by anyone. I think they’re playing and seeing how much cheaper stuff they can produce and still make money off of people who see art in everything. It’s like asking comedians if everything can be joked about. There are the ones who say no and the ones who say “either we can joke about everything or nothing at all”. Maybe this is where some branches of fashion are growing to. I think making one pair of gauze poo shoes is enough and people can visit and take photos. Less waste of resources.

my criticism of art like this is "why does it always have to be so convoluted?" I get wanting to portray a concept, I get that it can be a hard process... but seriously who do you as the artist, and especially the viewer, make the leap from burnt gauze to "a complex depiction of overcoming challenges and beauty in resilience"? Without an explanation, I can't imagine your average non-aficionado viewer would ever get there.

I like that art can have a deeper meaning. But the meaning has to be apparent to the audience without being told. I did not see “resilience” in these shoes. I don’t feel resilient with burned shoes.
