Thanks for the update ! Concise and quick . I guess the big question will be does lower lp(a) lead to a lower mortality rate. We know what elevated levels cause but does lower levels improve cardiac health outcomes. Only time will tell I guess.

These studies, HORIZON specifically, keeps getting pushed back because event rates are low. Many of the patients are aggressively lowering ApoB and LDL, even with elevated lp(a).

I was normal weight and good cholesterol at 45 and had a heart attack. LPa. It’s 195 now 15 years later but waiting for new treatments

I am in one of these trials. I have no side effects. However it’s important to remember that since these trials are double-blinded, the trial participants do not know if they’re getting the drug or placebo. Also, as others have stated, it remains to be seen if lowering Lp(a) will result in improved clinical outcomes. I remember when we thought raising HDL numbers would improve clinical outcomes, but now this has been disproven.

But are the effects of lipo(a) themselves the actual problem? What if you have someone with over 200’s but their apo A and lipid profile is normal? Is it necessary?

Sounds great! No excuse to have heart disease now. Except I find GP’s don’t focus on it enough. I had to request statins, and eventually a dose increase as the GP didn’t seem too interested
