Feminine and masculine are indeed based on modern social standards, yet also have to be realistic, it's partially natural. Both also had different reasons, Matriarchal societies weren't always 'we' because they wanted it, it was a thin string and act of survival. When Patriarchal societies came along, that was also largely when agriculture came, food supplies weren't scarce anymore and humanity grew quickly, therefore rose claims upon territory, which led to more necessity of centralized governmental structure and armies.
