There are 3 factors that detemine if an FA will come back: 1 - the defence narrative still active and strong (the excuse created by the avoidant to exit the relationship that they actually believe) 2 - if the shame still high (the avoidant knows what they have caused too the relationship and connection and that makes them feel deeply ashamed). 3- Low emotional access (if feelings still suppressed by fear to a level there is no access to the suppressed feelings that they believed was dead or non existent anymore to flourish again during late regret stage )
