The video explains the history of Ancient Greece from around 3000 BC to 146 BC, starting with the Minoans on Crete and the Mycenaeans on mainland Greece, who built powerful kingdoms before their civilizations collapsed. Greece then went through a difficult period before recovering and developing independent city-states such as Athens and Sparta. Athens became known for democracy, philosophy, art, science, and culture, while Sparta became famous for its powerful military. The Greek city-states later united to fight the massive Persian Empire during the Persian Wars, winning important battles such as Marathon, Thermopylae, and Salamis. Afterward, Athens became extremely powerful and entered its Golden Age under leaders like Pericles, but its growing power caused conflict with Sparta, leading to the Peloponnesian War, which weakened the Greek world. Macedonia then rose to power under Philip II, who conquered most of Greece, and after his death his son Alexander the Great conquered the Persian Empire and created a massive empire stretching from Greece to Egypt, Persia, Central Asia, and parts of India. When Alexander died in 323 BC, his generals fought over his empire, causing it to split into kingdoms such as the Seleucid Empire, Ptolemaic Egypt, and Macedonian kingdoms. This began the Hellenistic period, when Greek culture spread throughout the eastern Mediterranean and mixed with other cultures. Eventually, Rome became the dominant power in the Mediterranean and conquered Greece in 146 BC, ending the period covered by the video.#Greece #historytok #acientgreece #alexanderthegreat #History - @zeror.28
