I’m just nodding my head as I remember passing out in the halls in middle school. At least that wasn’t embarrassing. Or painful. Thank God I finally had a female provider who listened to me and put me on naproxen sodium at 13.

As I mom who has had 4 daughters, I will add the additional pressure from their school to not let them miss a day due to their pain. Parents get taken to court for too many absences, particularly for young women in middle school and high school, at alarming rates. The message is to force them to “just deal with it” while they are supposed to be learning.

34 years of misery projectile vomiting pain and flooding to the point I wore depends and was anemic. One good doctor actually listened and treated me. Now perimenopause but the best year of my life since I was eleven due to him listening and actually helping.

My daughter's was a cyst not period pain but I had to force the dr. to do the scans. He came in with his head hanging low like a scolded dog because he argued with me for ten minutes. I finally told him to just do the damn test I was paying for it.

speaking from experience - If your minor patient needs ANY prescription pain management "just for cramps" (let alone more than one medication), it's not JUST cramps and should never be normalized

2012, I went to a women's health hospital in Seoul at age 42 that actually got me diagnosed with adenomyosis. But it took being in South Korea for that to happen. In South Korea, women and girls get days off for periods. And nearly every city has a dedicated women's hospital.

Women are not taken seriously by doctors to the extent that when I went in with a broken arm, with my bone PROTRUDING THROUGH THE SKIN I got told I was being “dramatic” and it was just a dislocation, despite me telling the dr my ulna was broken in three pieces which I could FEEL because I was holding it together with my other hand. I was a med student at the time and got told I was a “know it all” he apologised after the X-rays…

My 12 year old daughter is having dizziness after getting up, nausea and chest tìghtness that we're getting investigated currently. Her father had the nerve to say "are you sure it's not just anxiety?"

When I was 12 having cramps so bad I would vomit, blackout and stay in bed for 14 days I was told the pain is all in my head.

When I started my period at 13, I had one and it was terrible, didnt have another until 16. Family doctor said "You have PCOS. Give it time. Oh, you'll never have kids." and that was it. No test, no evaluation, nothing. I didnt have regular periods until my youngest (6) was born. I have 2 kids.

Women KNOW why....... I was laughed at by an OBGYN because "endometriosis isn't THAT bad, it just bad bleeding.. just get pregnant"

I use to work for a Doctor (male) and had called out a couple times for the first day of my period. I told him what was happening and he told the every woman has a period and that I can’t call out over it anymore. The next month I went to work on the first day of my period and spent the whole morning in the bathroom (it was my job to room patients) because I was cramping/bleeding so bad I was vomiting, diarrhea and couldn’t contain the 🩸. When I finally emerged from the bathroom I was so pale my freckles disappeared. He took one look at me and asked what was wrong with me I told him this is what the first day of my period looks like every month. He sent me home and gave me a referral to a GYN and never questioned why I ever needed to call out again.

Yea… most doctors don’t give a sht about female reproductive health. After my first child I bleed for over 14 months before they stopped saying “that’s normal” and actually ran some tests to release I had a massive infection that went over a year untreated…

I started my period at the age of 10. I was symptomatic for PCOS from the age of 12 and dismissed by every single doctor I saw. I was 19 when I received my PCOS diagnosis. It wasn't explained to me at all...Instead, I had birth control shoved at me and told to take it because it would "fix" the PCOS 😑 It wasn't until I was in my mid to late 20s before I learned what PCOS actually was and the implications it would have on my reproductive and overall health.

How about for starters putting them on birth control that doesn't make it worse!!! When I finally went to an Endo specialist she said do not take another pill of the birth control I was on because it literally encouraged Endo growth!!! There are things you can do even without surgery! Refer to an Endo specialist, they don't have to wait until they are almost 40 like me and suffer the whole time!

They why I offered my daughter bcp when she was 13 because I had such horrible periods when I was a teen and so did my mom… she decided she was ready when she was 14 and her so was her mental health (I knew she had PMDD so ovarian suppression has been a game changer)

I already have an appt scheduled for my daughter right after she turns 13 in the fall to see my GYN. She has awful periods and I suffered for YEARS! Im not going to let my daughter go through that her entire life when I can take her to a Doc I work with and trust and we can figure out a plan to help her not be doubled over in pain every month.

My cousin had bad pain that was dismissed. Then at 13 it was discovered she had ovarian cancer. They pulled a tumor out of her bigger than a grapefruit.
