from what I read in the coastal areas they had something like 10,000 men ready to build during the low tides. they would spend days getting everything ready then as soon as low tide hit thousands of men would take into the sea to put everything where it needs to go and then stay there as long as they could then fuck back off to the shore for the next few days. discontinued until the wall was high enough to be worked on at all times
