Muscle Shoals Sound Rhythm Section played on three tracks from the soundtrack. One of those was “I Feel Love,” Benji’s theme. The rhythm track was recorded right here at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Sheffield, Alabama. The vocals were performed by country legend Charlie Rich, and the song went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song and win the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. 🏆 The Benji soundtrack was released in 1974, adding one more unexpected credit to the long and impressive list of work by The Swampers.
