@powerofgod661: 🙏 The Holy Father Pope participated in a historic procession on the waters of Lake Albano and prayed to the Virgin for the Church, for peace, and for all peoples! This Saturday, 29/08, Leo XIV became the first Pope to participate in a boat procession of the traditional procession of Our Lady of the Lake in Castel Gandolfo. The celebration began at 6:00 p.m. local time, with the Holy Mass presided over by the Pope at the Church of Mary Most Holy. The image of the Virgin was then led through the streets to the shore and placed on a boat, which the Holy Father also followed. About ten civilian boats, including canoes, as well as security forces, accompanied the crossing of the waters of Lake Albano. The tradition dates back to 1954, during the Marian Year proclaimed by Pius XII, when the then parish priest of Castel Gandolfo, Father Dino Sella, held the first procession of the image of Our Lady across the lake. Saint Paul VI and Saint John Paul II had already participated in this manifestation of faith, but no Pope had ever taken to the waters by boat. Throughout the procession, the meditations presented Mary as a woman of listening, service, hope, peace, and communion. The prayers recalled the peoples wounded by wars, families, children, the elderly, the sick, the youth, and those living in solitude. The community also thanked Mary for the gift of creation and renewed its commitment to protect the lake and its beauty. Before the image of Our Lady of the Lake, Leo XIV led a prayer of supplication, entrusting the Church to Mary's intercession, so that it may remain faithful to the Gospel, courageous in announcing it, humble in service, and persevering in charity. "To you, our loving protection, we entrust all the peoples of the earth: look upon your wounded children with benevolence and awaken in all of them the desire for peace."
