According to the family, the deceased had entered into a private transport arrangement with the tricycle’s owner, Mr. Mpika Atuah, under which Bless was required to make daily sales. The family explained that the GH¢1,500 in question was not a single day’s sales obligation but an accumulated amount from several days that Bless was allegedly unable to account for. The family told the Word FM news team that, on the morning of the incident, Mr. Mpika allegedly arrived at their residence with three other men and took Bless and the tricycle away, reportedly on the grounds that they were going to resolve the outstanding sales issue. The family further alleges that Bless was subsequently assaulted by the group. According to their account, a passerby intervened and pleaded with the men to stop the beating, after which the assault reportedly ceased temporarily. The family says Bless later complained of severe body pains while making his way home. They allege that Mr. Mpika and his associates subsequently traced him and persuaded him to accompany them, claiming that they intended to take him to a health facility for treatment. However, the family alleges that Bless was instead taken to Dagipeelika in Dulugu, an area where few people reportedly pass, and was subjected to another severe beating. According to the family, the men eventually realised that Bless was in critical condition and took him to a private clinic in the community. The clinic reportedly informed them that his condition was beyond the facility’s capacity to manage. The family says they waited until about 2:00 a.m., but Bless had not returned. They allegedly discovered the following morning that his lifeless body had been brought back and left in his room. The allegations have not been independently verified, and the circumstances surrounding Bless’s death remain subject to investigation by the relevant authorities. Moral Advice A disagreement over money, debt or business transactions should never become a reason to take another person’s life. No amount of money, regardless of how much is owed, is worth a human life. Disputes should be resolved through dialogue, mediation and lawful means rather than violence. At the same time, people who enter into transport or business arrangements should keep clear records of daily transactions, outstanding balances and agreed terms to minimise misunderstandings.
