@cosminacreates: Anne of Cleves (1515–1557) — the fourth wife of Henry VIII, and arguably the only one who won. She was chosen from a portrait by Holbein for a Protestant alliance with her brother’s duchy; Henry took an instant dislike to her in person and the marriage was annulled after six months, unconsummated. Rather than fight it, she agreed at once — and was rewarded with a generous settlement, several estates including Hever Castle, and the honorary title of the King’s Beloved Sister.
