Hello Mark :
She made a LOT of money from Whitney's version and put a lot of that money into helping historically black neighborhoods here in nashville.

I feel like, as someone who loves both Dolly and Whitney's versions, Whitney is portraying the size and drama of the feelings while Dolly's is showing the weight and intimacy of them.

I love Whitney’s version, but the emotion in Dolly’s is untouched.

Dolly’s version is one of deepest heartbreak. Whitney’s version is one of hope. You can hear and feel the difference

Hearing her tears through the music and knowing she's saying goodbye to Porter Wagner just ties it in a bow for me. I love Whitney's version because she gave it so much soul but Dolly's, you could hear the love she had for Porter.

Thank you guys so much for honoring Dolly. This is such a beautiful song that she wrote. Dolly even said Whitney sang it better than she did, but I think they were both amazing.♥️

Dolly used 10 Million $ of her royalties that she got from the Whitney Houston version to buy property in the Sevierville neighborhood in Nashville, a historically black neighborhood that had little to no resources and was struggling. She had commercial property and moved her offices there. Sparked, and continued a huge revitalization. She was truly such an amazing effing human, and I’ve been crying all week. I don’t think a celebrity death has ever hit me this hard 💔
