@howeverythingworksfr: Before he was the East India Trading Company’s most wanted pirate, Jack Sparrow was one of their own — captain of the merchant ship Wicked Wench, working for Cutler Beckett. When Beckett ordered him to transport a shipment of slaves, Jack discovered the “cargo” was human and freed them instead. Beckett had the ship burned and Jack branded a pirate as punishment. Desperate to get his ship back, Jack later struck a deal with Davy Jones — and the Wicked Wench, its hull blackened by fire, became the Black Pearl. None of this made it into the actual films — it only exists in a deleted At World’s End scene and the expanded lore. But it reframes the whole trilogy: Jack was never really the villain Beckett’s brand tried to make him.

I never understood, why they chose to delete this scene. It's integral to the plot.

In the novel, jack was a marine before, working for him and trading slaves, one day he had enough and he freed all the slaves and become a wanted criminal, another fun fact, jack sparrow had a very sad upbringing but he was very very smart, he learned as a kid that acting dumb leads him to places and gives him the upper hand, his whole nature is organised chaos, we see it as pure chaos whenever he does something, but everytime he does do something crazy it’s always calculated in his mind and also he almost never drank

For people saying this was in the movie they are wrong. It is a deleted scene. It was cut from the theatrical release.

So Beckett set the Wicked Wench on fire 🔥 It sank. Then Davy Jones struck the deal. That’s why it’s called “the black pearl” - it got burnt, and rose again with a new name, and a new captain. Excellent story

There's a book called The Price of Freedom by A.C. Crispin. It goes into more detail about why Jack became a pirate. It's a long book and there's more than just his backstory. It's a great book though.
