I commonly find the illicit comparative abduction fallacy. Where, when someone presents a bad argument (eg earth is flat, god is real, vaccines don’t work etc) and when you ask them to provide an argument, they respond with the question “well how do you account for it?” (Eg well where did the universe come from then?). An argument must be built on the validity on its own merit, not by comparing it to a counter argument and assuming it must be true because you feel it’s more plausible of the two.

I hate "appeal to authority" the most because its so frustrating to try to talk to someone who says "X said this so it must be true" and when you counter with "well but Y and Z said this" they just go "those are lies" like... ok 🙄

I think the biggest and most destructive fallacy in the modern political landscape is equivocation. A good example is the trans debate. Conservatives will say, “So you think a man can be a woman.” Under their definition of “woman,” that statement obviously doesn’t make sense. But they evaluate the opones statment according to their definition rather than the definition under which the statement was actually made to make their opponent’s position appear ridiculous. And this example in the trans debate becomes even more hilarious when you consider that one of the questions conservatives ask almost constantly is, “Define a woman. What is a woman?” This means they are fully aware that their opponent has a different definition. They explicitly acknowledge that difference when trying to get a “gotcha,” and then proceed to commit the fallacy anyway.

O loved in school when they taught us fallacies, í remember it was a list of like 27, and yeah, too many people fall from them, not even noticing their own logical fallacies

A very popular one, used a lot online is the "naturalistic fallacy" which is suggesting that something must be good because it's natural or that something is bad because it isn't natural.
