Even if it's a huge disappointment it doesn't mean much because anything can happen in the AI world. Everything changes so fast. They can have the worst model this year and the best 2 years from now.

This isn't the final anything. The models are constantly evolving, so Google will introduce 3.8 Flash and a Pro model. Google remains extraordinarily active in the AI space by making its own models, custom chips and by earning revenue through renting space on its servers to other AI providers. They're doing fine.
