Here’s the recipe for my whole wheat sandwich bread! 🍞 A couple tips for using freshly ground wheat berries: •Use hard wheat berries for bread and yeast recipes. It has a higher protein content. •Use soft wheat berries for pastries, cakes, and cookies, etc. •You can use hard wheat berries for everything but I wouldn’t recommend using soft for breads and yeast recipes. •My favorite wheat berry is the hard white wheat berries from Wheat Montana. I use it for everything. •I have the Komo Fidibus Classic wheat grinder. There’s a lot of grinder options. They’re all good. Just pick one! •Alright, let’s bake some bread! Save this post so you don’t lose the recipe. 💕 Whole Wheat Bread Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water 1 tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon yeast 2 tablespoons olive oil 3 1/2 cups freshly ground whole wheat flour Directions: In a mixer, add the lukewarm water, sugar, salt, and yeast. Then add the olive oil and start mixing as you gradually add the flour. Add 3 cups and then add more as needed. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes. You want a nice elastic dough. It will be a little stickier because of the freshly ground flour but not too sticky. Cover dough with plastic wrap or towel and let rise until doubled in size, about an hour. Oil your hands and punch the dough down. Flip so the smooth side is on top. Cover and let rise again until doubled in size. Shape dough into loaf and place into a greased bread pan. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes while you preheat the oven to 375 degrees. It’s ready to go in the oven when you poke a corner of the loaf with your finger and the indent stays in the loaf. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 30 minutes. Remove from pan right away and butter top if desired. Let cool completely before storing in a bread bag or gallon size plastic twist tie bag. #wheat #wholewheat #bread #homebaker #wholegrain
