@artvangarde: Artist and ceramicist Laura Solar, known as Pottery of Sol, creates figurative ceramic sculptures influenced by pre-Columbian artistic traditions, the human body and personal experience. In Vasija del Llanto (2025), meaning “Vessel of Weeping,” Solar hand-builds two interlocking figures from brown clay. A horned human form fits directly inside a larger vessel shaped like a face covered with raised droplets. The sculpture becomes particularly striking when water is introduced. Liquid emerges through the eyes of the lower face, making the ceramic figure appear to physically cry. Solar describes the piece as a hydraulic sculpture, turning the vessel from a static object into an active system. #art #artist #avantgarde #niche #weird
