@gigaqian: New York already has a quantum network spanning more than 160 miles. Researchers at Stony Brook and Brookhaven just added a 13-mile wireless free-space link to it, and in nighttime tests they successfully transmitted entangled photons across that link. Most quantum networking today relies on fiber-optic cables. Adding an open-air link could eventually help extend quantum communication across Long Island Sound and even through satellites. The researchers say this was the first demonstration of its kind in the United States. It’s important to understand that quantum entanglement does not mean faster-than-light (FTL) communication. The bigger goal is a future quantum internet where separate quantum computers can work together. #quantumcomputing #futuretechnology #QuantumInternet #TechNews #GigaQian
yes it does let you send messages faster than light, but the interesting question is why? 😯

I know this really is a big deal but man I don't know how you look so excited about everything you make a video about. I genuinely enjoy your excitement.

So what does this mean? They can network quantum computers, quantum-ly?

Not necessarily soon. But this experiment certainly is quickly demonstrating the potential that entanglement could eventually connect quantum computers so they operate as distributed. So exciting! 😁

I think it's possible to create a suit you could wear and transport yourself through the quantum realm. So you could go instantly to another part of the world , but you would be visiting it like a ghost

Is this primarily for QKD? Are there other practical uses yet?

@Orange Rocks1986:Is quantum computing how we can connect and interface with AI without phone devices to be able to access anyone anywhere by having like an AR/VR glasses or something like an earring or a ring on a finger for connection access points?
