In 2022 two thirds of shareholders revolted. Starbucks promised to halve its landfill waste by 2030; its own report shows it rose. Beyond Plastics tracked its "widely recyclable" cold cups and none reached a recycler. It refuses to answer questions about its cocoa. Every logo here is Nestlé. It owns more than 2,000 brands, ranks third in plastic litter counted worldwide, and paid 2 million euros to avoid prosecution in France for secretly treating water sold as pure spring water. Researchers traced nearly 1.9 million pieces of plastic litter in 84 countries back to the brands on them, and every giant at the top of that list publishes a sustainability report.
