Tbh taking another year off when you already got in to “pay tuition” isn’t the smartest choice because you’re delaying a year’s worth of doctor salary after residency. Yes, that money is down the line, but you’d get more of it to pay off loans in the long run.

Hey there. Just my two cents in the most positive way. If you’re planning to do med school after your second gap year and then residency, be careful what you post (yes, they check). Some of these posts are coming off in a way that some may interpret negatively. All in all, do what’s best for you and good luck!

As an attending physician, my best advice is humble yourself. Not every thought or move needs to be broadcasted, people will use it against you. As the great philosopher lil Wayne said: real Gs move in silence like lasagna.

Girl if you are going to med school, I would be very careful about what you post. Like talking about gambling even when you are just joking can be seen as unprofessional. They are very strict about professionalism in medical school. My friend was less than a minute late to a quiz and she got 2 points docked off out of 5 for professionalism

Hey girl ❤️being an influencer in any capacity can be hard when you’re based off transparency bc it leaves so much space for judgement. However, if becoming a doctor is your goal, I’d really be careful about what you posts. How you respond and handle yourself publicly can be interpreted as how you handle yourself in difficult situations with patients, co-workers, mistakes. Protect your peace. Remember you owe no one your reasoning for how you move through life! Best of luck to you ❤️

I hope you're doing something more than just content creation in your gap years. As someone who helped with medical school and residency interviews, it would be a big red flag. Not to mention if they came across some of your videos, like this one, it isn't the best look. My residency DNRed someone because of social media content.

I took 3 gap years before medical school. I’m now a ms3. Like gap years are not that deep and not uncommon, you will be fine

This is not a gamble. You are young and have your while life to study and work. Enjoy this year, embrace it, live, love, enjoy. It will make you a better physician. Wishing you all the best

i honestly noticed your comment section has been soooooo mean. and i wanted to chime in and just say (ik easier said than done) tune it out girl. you’re literally going to be a doctor. and when you retire as a physician later in life that one year of practice that was “lost” is gonna make NOOOOO difference. but you know what might make a difference??? if this year of youth is spent with curiosity and with energy and laughter and growth. My med school classmates range from 21 years old to 42. school isn’t going anywhere. i’m excited to one day be colleagues. i hope you enjoyyyyyyy and make the most of this year. 🫶

Girl there’s no shot that people who think you’re not going to accomplish your goals would actually put money on that. Use your energy to improve your application and focus on the kind of doctor you want to be (not specialty - I mean the qualities your patients will see in you as their doctor)
