@thecountertruth: One of the hardest parts of working in retail pharmacy—and healthcare in general—is that no day starts at zero. You can walk into the pharmacy first thing in the morning and already be behind. Prescriptions from yesterday are still waiting, prior authorizations haven’t been resolved, medications are on backorder, refill requests came in overnight, insurance problems are waiting to be fixed, provider clarifications still need answers, and patients understandably still need their medications. Healthcare doesn’t reset when the doors close. The unfinished work just rolls into tomorrow. Some days, pharmacy staff are playing catch-up before we’ve even clocked in. It’s not because we don’t care or aren’t working fast enough—it’s the reality of retail pharmacy workload, pharmacy staffing, prescription delays, insurance issues, medication shortages, and an increasingly overwhelmed healthcare system.
