@twintowers..memories: On July 13, 1977, New York City was plunged into darkness during one of the most infamous blackouts in the city’s history. ⚡🌃 What started with lightning strikes that caused problems in the power grid eventually left much of New York City without electricity for roughly 25 hours. Millions of people suddenly found themselves in a city with no streetlights, traffic signals, elevators, air conditioning, or subway service. The normally bright New York skyline disappeared into darkness, creating an eerie scene across the city. 🌑 The blackout also caused widespread disruption and serious civil unrest in some neighborhoods, including looting and fires. More than 1,600 stores were reportedly looted or damaged, and thousands of people were arrested. When the power finally returned, New York slowly began coming back to life. The 1977 blackout became a defining moment in the city’s history and is still remembered as one of the darkest nights NYC ever experienced. Nobody is realizing before 1979 when the antenna of the north tower was added, the additional (partial) antenna was still there and I find it cool how power generators run to keep electricity on floors 1-8 (lobby and mechanical levels), 42-43 & 75-76 (mechanical levels) and the 107th floors
