As the battle continues downhill, Rin begins to realise the truth about Ryosuke — he isn’t just a logical driver, but a genius capable of maintaining extreme speed on an unfamiliar course, something even locals wouldn’t attempt. Still, Rin refuses to back down, escalating the race into something far more dangerous than a contest of skill. At high speed, Rin initiates a brutal side press, using the weight of the R32 to force Ryosuke toward the wall. It should have ended there, but Ryosuke makes a split-second decision to climb the banked edge of the corner, absorbing the impact and recovering control. Rin attacks again, this time with even more force, but Ryosuke anticipates it — entering the corner at higher speed and using the resulting G-force to neutralise the hit. It’s a complete rejection of traditional technique, and proof of Ryosuke’s “fastest on public roads” philosophy in action. As the race pushes deeper into the course, the situation changes. Rin’s emotions begin to take over, driven by his unresolved feelings for Kaori. His driving becomes reckless, and it soon becomes clear that something is wrong — his brakes are failing. Despite multiple chances to escape, including the emergency runoff, Rin continues, effectively turning the battle into a suicide run. Ryosuke recognises this and makes an unexpected decision. Instead of pulling away, he slows down and positions his FC in front of the R32, using his own car to try and reduce its speed. However, the weight and momentum of the GT-R overwhelm him, and both cars begin to lose control as they approach the toll booth. At that moment, Ikeda intervenes. The Fairlady Z pulls alongside, aligning with the FC, and together they use their braking force to stabilise the R32. All three cars descend in formation, slowing just enough to come to a stop at the very edge of disaster.
