I completely agree with the idea of letting people go when they don’t put the same effort into us that we put into them. We shouldn’t chase people who don’t value us or don’t want to invest in us. But at my age, I still genuinely don’t understand how grown adults can be so incapable of communicating properly. Sometimes one person cares deeply, loves, gives attention, makes an effort, and genuinely tries to build something, while the other person doesn’t reciprocate. They disappear. They stop answering messages. They leave you on read for days, weeks, sometimes even months. They don’t check in, they don’t ask how you’re doing, and they make no real effort to maintain the connection and then, at some point, they come back. They reach out again as if nothing ever happened. No explanation, no acknowledgment of how their behavior affected you… they just casually reappear and expect the door to still be open and this is the part I genuinely don’t understand. If you know you’re not serious about someone, why don’t you just leave them alone? There are so many people out there. If you want something casual, a situationship, or simply don’t want anything serious, there are people who are looking for exactly that. So why keep coming back to someone you know has genuine feelings for you? Why play with someone’s heart? Why take advantage of their sincerity? Because the person who cares more is usually the one who ends up suffering more. They’re the ones lying awake thinking about what went wrong. They overanalyze every interaction. They question themselves. They wonder if they weren’t good enough, attractive enough, interesting enough, or somehow did something wrong.
