Yesterday, while I was working at the cafe, a customer came in and asked me, “Are you Nepali? Is your family safe? What about your relatives and everyone you know back home?” The way they asked me really stayed with me. I kept thinking about it afterward. Sometimes, even in the middle of everything happening in the world, you realise that there is still so much humanity in people. Even if nothing has happened to my own family or the people closest to me, seeing my country going through so much pain while I’m so far away is something I can’t really put into words. There’s a different kind of pain that comes with watching your own country suffer from a distance. And then they started telling me that they had been following what was happening in Nepal, talking about the floods and everything people were going through. When they said, “We’re praying for Nepal,” I honestly felt something I can’t explain. It was just a simple conversation, but it meant so much to me. Sometimes, a little kindness and genuine concern from someone who doesn’t even know you can touch your heart in ways you never expect. 🇳🇵❤️
