Either avoid it or start very gently and observe how your skin responds. For those who tolerate it well, cold immersion in a bowl of ice water can be very beneficial. It supports capillary tone and also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps regulate stress. What I don’t recommend is applying ice directly onto bare skin. That can be too aggressive. If you prefer using ice, wrap it in cotton or a thin cloth first. And one important detail - don’t combine cold exposure immediately with massage. Give your tissue time to regulate. Do it at least 30 minutes before or after your facial work. Cold is powerful. Use it intelligently.
