I'm not chronicle ill nor am i disabled BUT logic would tell me that if someone has a chronic illness they'd be more likely to be more susceptible to other health issues seeing as they are already ill to begin with.

i have a connective tissue disorder and an ANS disorder which causes a fuck ton of comorbidities. I have chronic migraines sometimes with auras which caused me to switch medications

People really don’t realize the more disorders you have, the more likely you are to have more... Because comorbidities are a thing. It’s a never ending cycle. I didn’t know my shoulders were hypermobile until I found out I have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and Scapular Winging. It’s likely the hypermobility caused the SC, which then caused the TOS. I have refractive amblyopia as a result of strabismus, My twin developed chronic migraine from his MS just like you did. He’s not even on disability because of the MS itself, he’s on disability because of what the MS did to his eyes. He is legally blind. I have some issues related to my own MS and other comorbidities I had before I was even diagnosed with that!

I’m chronically ill so I don’t mean this in a bad way but chronic illnesses are like those clown cars. Where at first you think it’s just one clown, but it just keeps coming 😭I already have symptomatic hypermobility, neurodivergence, GI issues, chronic fatigue and I just realized that I might have undiagnosed and untreated scoliosis. And that scoliosis can cause nerve pain and digestive issues

ooooo my hashimotos was called "get more sleep" and "in normal range" (no labs so how would you know) for yeeeeears so now i am severely anemic and also have digestive problems. who knows what the digestive problems are.

ive got a connective tissue disease which are NOTORIOUS for causing comorbidities and is also one o fthe things that keeps getting called fake because people dont understand enough about anatomy to even begin to comprehend why one disability could affect so much stuff

Medication is LIFE SAVING, I am not against medication in any way- but it can have side effects. My life saving medication caused other disabilities. Better than being dead, but medication is not a magical fix everything pill- it can cause other problems.

In my support group we talk about our illness “collections”. We all have at least 4. But we rarely list them all cause it’s overwhelming. We don’t say it out of ignorance, just a way to lighten the discussion.

My cystic fibrosis caused me to get Diabetes and need a lung transplant. A medication i needed to take waiting for transplant caused me to become legally deaf. My lung transplant caused me to become immunocompromised and being immunocompromised caused me to get lymphoma (which is now cured) but yeah. It’s not “collecting disabilities” because I didn’t want them 😭

Heds here it's known for having minimum 2 cocombinds I got the short end of the stick ended with pots mcas gastropisis gerd autism anxiety PTSD endometriosis and that's just what can come with heds there's Abit extra outside that

and to add on to this from a mental health perspective, as it's harder to accurately diagnose someone with mental health as it partially can rely on communication you might have someone who has something like bipolar and end up getting instead diagnosed with depression and something else, on top of that people who have autism (like me) are more likely to have a dys disability (dyscalcula, dyslexia, dyspraxia) and even have depression, which for some of the disabilities I have mentioned can be medicated for, which can cause things that you mentioned regarding medication and more conditions to arise from those medications (jaundice for example) and on top of that you could be given a medication, not being told what not to take with it, take something that you shouldn't take which will at best result in you wasting n/28 (where n is the price of the medication if you pay) and at a theoretical worse leading to some other health problems
