I grew up not celebrating these holidays due to their pagan origins. I never felt deprived despite what other people were doing. it taught me to be able to stand alone on my convictions, and I greatly respected my parents for their convictions. as far as criticism goes, well, the same people who would criticize others for non participation in these events are quite often the same people who criticize Christians for doing so.
