In this episode, I continue restoring my 1973 Datsun 240Z — and finally, it’s time for paint prep. After completing all the bodywork and panel alignment, the entire car was stripped down to bare metal using walnut shell blasting — a gentle method that protects the panels. Then, aluminum oxide was used to remove rust and prepare the surface for perfect paint adhesion. To prevent rust, every part was immediately coated with a zinc-rich primer — creating a strong, protective layer bonded to the metal. After that, epoxy primer was applied inside, outside, and underneath the car to seal everything properly. Once cured, I moved on to high-build primer — smoothing out every small imperfection to get that flawless finish.
