@lewildexplorer: What’s happening in Yosemite? 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 NOTUS reported yesterday, August 28, 2026, that the National Park Service has spent over a year working on a directive from Trump officials to hand over a quarter-mile strip of land inside Yosemite. This is not a sale. It is a land exchange, which means the government gives up the land and takes back a parcel of “equal appraised value” somewhere else in California. That parcel has not been identified. The appraisal inside the park is already underway. A Nevada firm bought 83 acres outside the park's western boundary for $4 million in 2024 and wants to connect that property to Big Oak Flat Road, a main route into Yosemite Valley. 
🛣️ The Park Service rejected this same road for two decades, and federal courts struck it down in 2007 and 2012. ⚖️ The Park Service says no final decisions have been made, and any exchange would go through environmental review. 📞 Call your representative. The developer's attorney says the plan is for single-family homes and disputes that politics is driving it.
