"enthusiasm" literally means a god is inside you. it comes from the greek entheos: en, meaning within, theos, meaning god. to the ancient greeks, when someone was truly lit up, burning with energy for something, they didn't think it came from the person. they thought a god had entered them. and whether or not you believe that, it points at something real. that feeling, the one where you lose track of time, where the work pours out of you, where you're more alive than you know how to explain, the ancients treated it as sacred. as evidence of the divine moving through a human being. we treat it like a nice mood. maybe they were closer. maybe your enthusiasm isn't just a feeling. maybe it's a signal, pointing at the thing you were actually made to do. pay attention to what fills you with fire. the ancients thought that fire was a god showing you the way. #philosophy #faith #purpose #mindset
