TikTok just announced they are updating the Community Guidelines. On September 24, 2026, the new Community Guidelines go into effect. TikTok's Community Guidelines cover what's allowed on TikTok, what's not allowed on TikTok, and what's not allowed in the For You feed (FYF). Most of the rules that catch creators sit in one section — Integrity and Authenticity. Here's the quick summary, in TikTok's own words: 1️⃣ EDITED MEDIA AND AI-GENERATED CONTENT (AIGC) TikTok requires clear labeling when AI or editing is used to realistically depict people or scenes. TikTok does not allow AIGC that misleads about matters of public importance or that harms individuals. If you're using AI, label it as AI generated content. 2️⃣ UNORIGINAL CONTENT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS TikTok does not allow content that violates intellectual property rights, including reposts of copyrighted or trademarked material without permission. Reposted content and copyrighted content are both covered. 3️⃣ DECEPTIVE BEHAVIOR AND FAKE ENGAGEMENT TikTok does not allow accounts that mislead or try to manipulate the platform, or the trade of services that artificially boost engagement or trick the recommendation system. So stop the follow for follow, follow trains, follow trends, follow you follow me back. Stop. 4️⃣ COMMERCIAL DISCLOSURE AND PAID MARKETING If you're promoting a product, brand, or business, you must use TikTok's content disclosure setting. Turn it on in your post settings before you post. 5️⃣ FOR YOU FEED STANDARDS Not all content is guaranteed to be recommended. Content that falls under the "FYF Ineligible" standards won't be recommended in the For You Feed. Your video doesn't have to violate community guidelines or get removed to stop getting pushed out by TikTok — TikTok can leave your video up and make it ineligible for the FYF, what most of us still call the For You Page or FYP. WHAT TIKTOK CAN ACTUALLY DO: 🚫 REMOVE CONTENT — anything under the "Not Allowed" rules ⚠️ AGE-RESTRICT CONTENT — viewable only by adults 🔶 FYF INELIGIBLE — it stays up, it just stops getting recommended These rules apply to everyone and everything on the platform. No exceptions. From now on when you're creating content, keep all of this in mind so you're staying within the guidelines — that's what keeps TikTok pushing out your content.
