A former nanny for Lindsay Clancy's children testified today that she never was concerned for their safety and saw Lindsay as a good mother. Clancy wept at the defense table as Elaine Ross remembered 5-year-old Cora Clancy as "a girly girl who loved her babies very much." "She was very sweet, and she loved arts and crafts and loved playing with her Fresh Mart, which was a little children's supermarket. She was lovely," Rossi said. Three-year-old Dawson Clancy "was full of energy, rambunctious, funny, silly," she said today (Wednesday, August 5, day 7). "Did you ever have any problem watching Dawson or keeping him under control?" asked Shanan Buckingham, an assistant district attorney in Plymouth County. "Not at all. I was only with him on a handful of occasions," said Rossi, who primarily cared for 8-month-old Callan. Rossi said Cora and Dawson "played well," but she recalled an incident in Cora "took one of his Play-Doh" and Dawson reacted by slapping Callan. Lindsay "removed Dawson from the room, and came back and consoled Callan," Rossi said. "And eventually, did you see her go back and kind of talk to Dawson about his behavior and address it?" Buckingham asked. Rossi said she did and Buckingham asked, "And was that appropriate in your opinion?" "Of course, yes," Rossi said. Rossi said Callan "was the happiest, sweetest, easiest baby." "He was just a love," Rossi said. Rossi stopped working for the Clancys in early December 2022 because Lindsay decided not to return to work and no longer needed childcare. Clancy admits she killed Cora, Dawson and Callan at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on Jan. 24, 2023, but her lawyer told jurors she must be acquitted because she didn't know what she was doing when she killed the children. She had been undergoing treatment and was on medication for postpartum mental health issues, but prosecutors say she planned the children's murder, including sending her now ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, to run errands farther away from home than usual at the time she killed their children. You can watch all trial testimony on my YouTube channel and Facebook page, where you also can watch the trial live when it's in session. Testimony resumes on Thursday (August 6) at 9 a.m. EST. #law #crime #court
