During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, astronaut Neil Armstrong collected lunar rocks and soil from the Moon's surface, bringing back humanity's first direct samples from another world. In total, Apollo 11 returned about 21.5 kg (47.5 lbs) of priceless lunar material, helping scientists uncover the Moon's age, composition, and volcanic history. 🪨 These extraordinary samples revealed that the Moon is approximately 4.5 billion years old and continue to be studied even today using technologies that didn't exist when they were first collected.
