the movie is called Edge of darkness,ok so boom,basically his daughter discovered something she wasn't supposed to know. She worked for a company(Northmoor) involved in developing nuclear weapons technology. While working there, she discovered that the company was involved in a secret and illegal operation involving nuclear materials and the government. She became worried and copied evidence/files that could expose what Northmoor was doing. She was planning to reveal the truth. That’s why they wanted her dead. It wasn't because she personally did something bad to them—she had information that could destroy the company and expose powerful people. The people attacking her were trying to recover or destroy the evidence and silence her. Her father, Thomas, gets caught up in it because he starts investigating her murder and gets dangerously close to discovering the same truth.
