@enie851: Norton Woman Entrusted with Surgery Donations Murdered in Midnight Robbery A woman identified as Mai Chipo from the paMunda area of Norton was robbed and murdered around midnight on Friday in a tragedy that has left a family and a community mourning the loss of a woman who had been entrusted with financial donations for 21 year old Luckmore Rice’s life-changing eye surgery. Mai Chipo who ran a tuckshop in the area was reportedly keeping donations (US$10 000) raised towards the eye surgery of Luckmore who is due to travel to India for the procedure. According to reports, armed robbers targeted Mai Chipo at her home around midnight before attacking her and making away with unspecified amount of money She was reportedly stabbed in the stomach during the robbery. The circumstances surrounding the attack were not immediately clear while efforts to get a comment from Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera were in vain as his mobile phone went unanswered. Mai Chipo’s death has also created uncertainty over the funds that had been entrusted to her for Luckmore’s medical procedure. The donations had been placed in her care as efforts continued to raise money for Luckmore, who requires the eye surgery in India. Her death has therefore disrupted efforts to secure treatment for Luckmore whose medical funds she was safeguarding.
