@pipeandskill: Direct and indirect cylinders can look almost identical from the outside, but one internal difference changes how the water is heated 👇 A direct cylinder uses electric immersion heaters inside the cylinder to heat the stored water. An indirect cylinder uses hot boiler water flowing through a separate internal coil. Heat passes through the copper into the stored water, but the boiler water and tap water never mix. The important distinction is this: Direct or indirect describes how the water is heated. Vented or unvented describes how the cylinder is supplied.
