@soltishopestreetrescue: You may remember little Monika, the street puppy who was still living beside her mama when we rescued her with a badly broken leg. X-rays revealed a severely displaced fracture of her humerus, and Monika was taken into surgery to repair the fracture with a plate. It has now been two weeks since her surgery, and we are so happy with how well she is doing. Monika spent those first two weeks on complete crate rest, and her surgical wound has now almost completely healed. Best of all, she has started putting weight on her injured leg. She is now being allowed out for short periods to spend a little time with the other dogs, although we still have to make sure she takes things slowly for the next few weeks. Monika is eating well, she’s happy, and her recovery is progressing just as we hoped. If everything continues this way, we expect that over the next month she’ll be back to running, playing, and getting into mischief like any other puppy. She really is the sweetest little girl. Thank you to everyone who helped towards Monika’s surgery and care. We rescue sick and injured animals every day, and your support allows us to keep saying yes when the next one needs us.
