@theaviationtherapist: Moral injury is not PTSD. It does not come from what was done to you. It comes from what you did, what you witnessed, or what you failed to prevent, when any of those things violated something you believed in deeply. Aviation produces it. Almost nobody names it. The investigation clears the pilot. It does not clear the feeling. The decision was procedurally correct and morally uncomfortable in a way that has no procedural resolution. That is the distinction that matters clinically. Moral injury does not ask "did I do it right?" It asks "should this have happened?" and "was I the person I believe myself to be?" Those questions have no procedural answers, and aviation culture, which is extraordinarily equipped for procedural questions, has almost no infrastructure for those ones. If you are carrying something that replays and does not respond to reassurance that you followed the procedure correctly, that may be moral injury. It has a name, a framework, and requires different support than aviation currently offers. Save this. Share it with the aviation professional carrying something that fit no category they were given. #moralinjury #militaryaviation #aviationmentalhealth #theaviationtherapist #aviationpsychology

Not sure why you turned off comments on your other videos. I really enjoy getting other people’s viewpoint, that’s most of the value of a lot of these videos. I hope you decide to turn them back on.

Are either of these what you mean? 1) An air traffic controller hands off a plane to the next sector and shortly after they clear the controller's approach they encounter extreme turbulence and crash. 2) An air traffic controller at facility X sees on TV coverage of a crash landing by an airliner that was being worked by facility Y, which is several states away, and the airliner was never in facility X's airspace.

For FAs it’s more like having to increasingly parts of your self and your personality, values etc..to keep the peace on the airplane with not just the customers, but with management and colleagues as well and can lead to next level burnout and chronic illness. It can really become pronounced when one suffers a workplace injury and they suddenly realize that neither management nor the insurance company are remotely interested in providing the medical care necessary to get them back to work because they went from an asset to a liability virtually overnight (ask me how I know). This is coupled with a lack of financial support (claims being denied) and a loss of identity as well. Followed by grief..🙏🏻
