The seat back is made of carbon composite and takes the full seat belt load which was the first time the seat manufacturer had done this on a business class seat. It was supposed to be lighter because of it but the customer added actuators to the center seat and wanted a premium feeling food tray which ended up being very heavy for a food tray. It was an interesting project but very challenging from a certification standpoint. I worked on the project from concept to first installations on the a350 and a330.

I’ll take this over the basic little cabin of doom most dreamliners have where you slide into the underneath of the tv part. I absolutely hate those.

I didn’t enjoy it when I flew in December. I often want to rest halfway reclined and hated that you either sit up of lay flat. Then my back got stiff and it was hard to sit back up.
