I would be worried about Staph or possibly a yeast infection from all the antibiotics you have been on.

Pick up some 1% or 2% clotrimazole cream over the counter. Apply twice a day for a week, washing well before each time applying. Even if it's something else it won't hurt any other conditions and if there is any fungal or yeast contributing it will take care of it. Then you can go from there.

Have the doctors taken tests for bacteria?? If its spreading it may be just that a specific bacteria and that needs to be checked WHAT bacteria it is. And then the right meds can be prescribed. Go back to your GP and demand a bacteria swab!! This can lead to so much longer time for treatment if you wait. Please go back. Good luck (i am saying this after professional experience. I am a nurse.

It could be fungal if the skin is often wet because of drainage. Its the perfect environment for yeast to form and if there is drainage sitting on the skin, with pads or dressings there too, it can cause these sorts of issues. A GP should be able to diagnose, as dermatologist will be a bit of a wait.

I’ve been following you for just a couple of weeks now. I just want to applaud you for your vulnerability and your courage. I’m sure it’s not easy to talk about these things on the internet. But I believe you are helping so many men, and women to feel less shame and embarrassment related to their own wound journeys. I myself have had terrible bowel problems for many years. I’m booked in to get an ileostomy in a month, and I have very mixed feelings about it. But my quality of life atm, and the things I have to do has taken a huge mental toll on me. Watching you has made me feel so much less alone. I’m thinking of documenting the whole process, so maybe I can help someone out there too.

The drainage from your wound could be the issue it can really break down skin and cause its own issues .

It’s probably because of the heat there. It’s been so hot mate, it’s probably nothing more that a sweat rash compounded by the healing going on there, possibly a couple of ingrown hairs as well which will make it itchy

Have you been wearing large sanitary pads ? It could be a rash from them and it’s been getting gunk in it from the other issues you have ? I cannot buy cheap sanitary pads due to my skin being sensitive and it will go very dry and start to break and become very sore … some sanitary products have chemicals and ingredients you could be sensitive too ? But I’ve definitely try and get it checked out !!

Buy some clotrimazole cream over the counter. Use it twice a day until it clears and then for a further week. If it’s fungal this will probably help. If it’s not fungal it won’t help but it won’t hurt either. I bet it’s fungal

If red lines are coming from the abscess site that is what my doctors warned me about when I had MRSA (a type of staph infection) Have they tested you for MRSA? That would cause an abscess and cause those lines radiating from the site.

I always thought jock rash was a fungal infection, the same as athletes foot so grab yourself some canestan 1% (clotrimazole) generic is fine. I put it on my eczema sometimes just in case- does no harm.
