@young_turkish_cypriots: A passenger vessel carrying 270 people has capsized off Girne. The boat had departed Girne for the Turkish port of Taşucu when it went over around two kilometres off the coast. There were 270 people on board, including passengers and crew. Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul has described the situation as very serious. Speaking to CNN Türk, he said 159 of the 258 passengers had been reached, leaving 99 unaccounted for at the time of his statement. There is no information yet on the crew. Rescue operations are ongoing. The Mayor has asked the public not to speculate while they continue. Our thoughts are with everyone on board and with their families. We hope all those still missing are found and brought to safety, and we are grateful to the rescue teams working at the scene.
