@nicolet.life: If you don’t have tums, want a cheaper option, or don’t want any fillers or dyes 🫶🏼 only ingredient is calcium carbonate My reflux in pregnancy is just 😵💫 every time! Don’t take more than 600-1000mg at a time, and max up to 3 times a day! This also counts as calcium supplementation so always good to talk with your doc about it first. But if you’re using tums or similar, this is the same thing. Powdered calcium carbonate neutralizes stomach acid by the identical chemical mechanism as tums, because the “calcite” in tums and any powdered calcium carbonate are the same compound. Calcium carbonate works as an antacid by directly neutralizing acid. There is no pharmacologically distinct “calcite” mechanism versus generic powder. The crystalline mineral form is chemically identical to the active ingredient, and any commercial tablet is milled calcium carbonate powder + binders, sweeteners, and disintegrants. I still use tums sometimes esp if on the go but prefer this option at home! This is NOT medical advice. #pregnancy #womeninmedicine #momsinmedicine #doctormom #womeninstem
