@toeverymom: Over 40, I left my job. Here’s why. I realized I had already lived a huge chunk of my life, and I wanted the next part to actually look like the life I wanted. I was grateful for my job, but I didn’t just want my evenings and weekends back. I wanted my 9 to 5 back too. I wanted the hours I spent commuting in traffic. I wanted slower mornings, more time with the people I love, and the freedom to show up for things without checking how much PTO I had left. I also wanted to know what I was capable of financially without someone else deciding my ceiling. So I took the chance. Since leaving, I’ve had slower mornings, taken more vacations, been present for things I would have missed, and built multiple streams of income that have allowed me to earn multiple times what I made before. Leaving over 40 may have looked risky. But I think I would have regretted never finding out what I was capable of even more.
