for me, the onscreen chemistry and intimacy showcased by Joss and Gawin is unmatched and they so effortlessly carried the series and ultimately the natural intimacy and that vulnerability really solidified the success of MGB. but I always want to praise the characterization of Mark and Tong. Mark was a strong, masculine, stoic 200 year old vampire who was soft and careful and gentle with Tong. Mark gained back some of his humanity after a single drop of Tong's blood and instead of fighting it, he navigated it, he communicated, he cried, he expressed emotion, he didn't shy away from his vulnerability. and Tong, a young sheltered 20 year old, lead with bravery and courage. he wasn't waiting around to be saved, he didn't rely on Mark as if he wasn't a capable human being. he experienced fear but it didn't stop him from pushing forward, it didn't stop him from doing the right thing. he was a damsel in distress, he was strong and steadfast. it is quite rare in the BL industry to see a yop and bottom portrayed in such a way and it just felt like Mark and Tong were two souls who fell in love and fought for that love. they were a partnership where they both took care of each other 💕
