Cara Jade Catalano :
I hadn't heard of hyperacusis until about 3 weeks ago, and now I think of you and Terry all the time. There has got to be more awareness about this condition so treatments can be offered. It is awful. I'm praying for you.

You need to find a hyperacusis girlfriend and live during the quiet nighttime together like a vampire couple

I live with chronic complex migraine and hemiplegic migraine with brain damage in my left frontal lobe. I also have tinnitus. I’m building a life alongside my illnesses. I’ve studied things I’m interested in with an online college. And am doing things I enjoy like painting and printmaking. I work on criptime (google this term). I take each day as it comes but I try to do something toward my goals each day. Even if it’s reading one paragraph in a book. So work on some goals because even doing the smallest thing counts and over time those little things mean a lot. We may be chronically ill, but we can still thrive.

I've been trying to find a way to ask you about this without coming off as insensitive; is there a hobby you enjoy that would be capable within the current capacity? I am an artist and I love doing crafty projects. sometimes I catch myself crafting in silence due to my video ending and not noticing anyway. I've truly found those moments of silence are my most productive with some of my best creative works. and mentally? I feel recharged after. Legos is something that gives the same satisfaction without the brain power for me as well

I saw you comment about legos after someone asked about them. I’ve made some small figurines and it was a good low pressure way to stay occupied, and it’s super satisfying when they’re complete at the end. I know they’re expensive but I hope, if you feel like it might be right for you, that you open a registry or PO Box if you haven’t already

I think art is genuinely a great way to pass the time. I am an artist, I've done painting, drawing, ceramics, and writing. I'm not as skilled in every one- but sometimes just Creating A Thing helps me in every moment of mental anguish. and the days I can't handle my traditional art? I do things to create. maybe cook, though it can be loud and difficult if you're sick. I've watched tiktok videos and done bad origami just watching their motions. painting a 3d printed fidget was a new one that kept me entertained with how bad I was at it- honestly, even puzzles have me feel like I am making a thing and I don't even need videos or music or anything to feel nice just working with pattern recognition a bit. when I feel the sickest is when I am creating the least, and most often being ill is the reason I create less. genuinely though, any 'i made something' hobby is great. especially anything you can go back and see progress or see a finished product of. it does go well with completionism and those tiny dopamine hits while also being just genuinely good for you

This resonates heavily with me as I'm the same situation (2.5y for me with H and T, and we are similar in age since I'm 28). Can't wait for the phase 2 of your journey. See you tomorrow

Mon oncle à l’hyperacousie et je suis content qu’il réussisse à garder une vie commune, peut être l’a-t-il à un niveau moins sévère. Je suis fier de lui, je ne savais pas que ça pouvais lui coûter autant.
