Hmm Ok :
Linux and Windows handle ram differently The explanation: the NT Kernel (windows) handles memory allocations differently than Linux. When ar app requests memory, the NT Kernel will strictly check to see if it's below limits and reserve the entire requested amount. Linux does things more lazily, where it'll only assign physical pages when the app writes to the memory. In layman's terms, if Linux app requests 2gb memory and does nothing or uses very little, you will see a very small jump in usage. In Windows, task manager will report a 2gb jump ir committed memorv in the same scenario because it reserves that memory against your ram and pagefile even if physical ram isn't used yet. When using languages that have a runtime ang Garbage collection, runtime and they normally allocate more memory than needed to keep their own pool of memory that the runtime can manage itself. So if the underlying app doesn't use nuch memory, there's a lot of waste in Windows due to the entire pool being reserved. Video decoding (so some cutscenes in games) is a highly, highly optimized path so wasted memory is not much, resulting in the outliers seen in the video. This behavior also means that Windows will not let vou commit more memor then the system can actually back (l.e. physical + page file size) while Linux can overcommit and result in ar app being killed from the OOM killer. This is a very brief tldr into a big rabbithole, but it's quite interesting for those who care. There's also differences in how shared libraries (like dlls vs so) are loaded which can cause differences in usage, often favoring Linux in efficiency.

You see, windows directs RAM differently. If you have 16 gigs it uses as much as it needs, but when you run a game it asks for 6 gigs, windows directs it RAM even if it isn't using full 6 gigs, and doesent free it until the game is closed. Linux gives only what the game needs at the moment, so if 1 room uses 6 gigs and the other uses 3, linux gives 6 or 3 gigs without freeing the space. When the ram is full, and you enter the 6 gigs room from 3, the game crashes. And on windows, the game wont run because it always directs 6 gigs of free space even if the game uses 3 only, so it either runs ok or doesent launch.

straight bs lol, Sure windows takes a lot of ram during idle. but that is because it turns on processes, apps and other stuff on, that windows think ur going to use. the moment you open a different app or game that needs a lot of ram/CPU power, it will drop all the other processes that it turned on.
