@lindseybrookshire: As a temp hygienist, I assess every single patient who sits in my chair as if it’s their very first visit to the dentist. 🦷 It’s heartbreaking to see patients who have been living with untreated gum inflammation or periodontal infection without fully understanding what’s happening—or why it matters. As their hygienist that day, it’s my responsibility to look beyond just “cleaning teeth.” I assess their periodontal health, educate them on what I’m seeing, explain why treatment may be necessary, and make sure they understand the importance of getting the appropriate care. 🦠 Oral health is connected to overall health. The bacteria and inflammation associated with periodontal disease don’t necessarily stay isolated to the mouth. Chronic oral inflammation has been linked with systemic health conditions, which is why maintaining healthy gums is about so much more than having a clean smile. Every patient deserves to know what’s going on in their mouth and why their oral health matters. Being a temp doesn’t mean I’m just there to “do a cleaning.” I’m there to assess, educate, advocate, and provide the best care I can for every patient who trusts me with their health. 🤍 #rdh #dental
